The Foundation, a national non-profit performing arts training program, teaches "America's youth how to kick start their career with one of a kind performance workshop taught by Broadway's brightest stars," according to press notes.
This summer's teaching artists boast Tony Award-winning Next to Normal's Alice Ripley as well as Tyler Hanes (A Chorus Line), Jessica Bogart (Les Miserables), Tituss Burgess (Guys and Dolls), James Kinney (Sweet Charity) and Nicholas Rodriguez ("One Life to Live").
Attendees will receive training in acting, dance and vocal performance. Students will also learn how to improve their audition skills (song selections and cold readings) and attend classes geared toward college and career planning (headshots and resumes).
At week's end, participants will perform alongside Broadway talent in Don’t Stop Believing, which will be held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts' Perelman Theatre Aug. 7 at 8 PM. (For tickets, priced $25-$65, call 215-893-1999 or visit www.kimmelcenter.org.)
