The Obie Award-winning Clubbed Thumb company pulls into the depot with The Train Play Jan. 11-Feb. 2. Liz Duffy Adams' play kicks off the seventh season of new plays for the group under the direction of Jonathan Silverstein. The production officially opens Jan. 13 at the Ohio Theatre in downtown Manhattan.
Aboard a train heading towards infinity a wide variety of characters —including a 12 year-old with supernatural powers, a physicist, a writer, an Irishman, an earth goddess and three Russian brothers — encounter each other and "the other side of the end of the world."
The passengers on this Train Play include Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Keith Davis, Gibson Frazier, Nicole Halmos, Austin Jones, Mark Leydorf, Ryan Shogren and Ami Shukla.
Founded in 1996, Clubbed Thumb is responsible for productions including U.S. D rag, 16 Spells to Charm the Beast, Downwinders, Freakshow, Inky and Jimmy Carter Was a Democrat, among others. The advisory board includes Wallace Shawn, Mac Wellman and Paula Vogel.
