Ivo van Hove’s stage adaptation of the 1950 film All About Eve will begin a 14-week run at London's Noël Coward Theatre February 2, 2019, prior to an official opening February 12.
As previously reported, Emmy Award winner Gillian Anderson (X-Files, The Fall, A Streetcar Named Desire) will star as Margo Channing opposite Lily James (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Downton Abbey, Romeo and Juliet) as Eve Harrington.
The two actors will be joined by BAFTA Award winner Monica Dolan as Karen, alongside Sheila Reid as Birdie and Rhashan Stone as Lloyd with further casting to be announced.
Van Hove’s direction will be accompanied by set and lighting design by Jan Versweyveld, costume design by An D’Huys, sound design by Tom Gibbons, and music from PJ Harvey. Casting is by Julia Horan CDG.
Performances are currently scheduled through May 11.
The Oscar-winning film All About Eve was written and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, based on Mary Orr's short story The Wisdom of Eve. The movie cast Bette Davis as Channing, the prominent Broadway star, and Anne Baxter as Harrington, a willingly helpful young fan who insinuates herself into Channing's life.
The film was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture.
