Louise Pitre may not be a Broadway name yet, but it's likely she will be after she blows into town with Mamma Mia!, the ABBA musical that has made a hit in every city it has visited. In anticipation of her New York arrival as Donna, the confused mother at the center of Mamma Mia!'s comic plot, the French-speaking Canadian star will release her debut album, "All My Life Has Led to This," Oct. 8 on the LML Music label.
A three-time Dora Mavor Moore Award winner for Piaf and Blood Brothers and, in 2001, for Mamma Mia!, Pitre's 20 years of credits include musical theatre stints with Les Miserables, Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd and Cabaret.
Featured on her CD, a combination of standards, ABBA tunes and French songs she wrote herself, are:
"All My Life Has Led to This"
"An Affair to Remember"
"Y'a Rien a Voir"
"Rock-A-Bye Your Baby With a Dixie Melody"
"A Quiet Thing"
"Slipping Through My Fingers"
"The Winner Takes It All'
"A Notre Tour"
"Dark Is the Night (C'est Fini)"
"To Love Again"
"Le Ciel Est Bleu"
"If I Ruled the World"
"Bravo! Tu as gagne" (a French version of "The Winner Takes It All")
