Mart Crowley’s groundbreaking 1968 play The Boys in the Band makes its official Broadway premiere May 31 at the Booth Theatre. The first Broadway production, directed by Joe Mantello and with a cast that includes Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, and Matt Bomer, opens after beginning previews last month.

The limited engagement, produced by Ryan Murphy and David Stone, is scheduled to run through August 12.

Parsons (The Normal Heart), Quinto (American Horror Story), Rannells (The New Normal), and Bomer (The Normal Heart, AHS) take on the roles of Michael, Harold, Larry, and Donald, respectively. Each of the four is an alum of Murphy's TV ventures.

The cast also includes Tony nominee Robin De Jesús as Emory, Brian Hutchison as Alan, Michael Benjamin Washington as Bernard, Tuc Watkins as Hank, and Charlie Carver as Cowboy.
In The Boys in the Band, a group of gay men gather in a New York City apartment for a friend’s birthday party in the late 1960s. As the evening continues, the cracks beneath their friendships begin to show, exposing the self-inflicted heartache that threatens their solidarity.

The production features sets and costumes by David Zinn, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, and sound design by Leon Rothenberg.
