SEATTLE-- Andrea Allen, former artistic director of the Annex Theatre has been named the new Outreach and Education director for the Seattle Repertory Theatre. She succeeds Ted Sod, who has accepted a one-year contract for a new position as artistic associate/ director of education and outreach at the George Street Playhouse in New Jersey.
“I’m thrilled to make this move to the George Street Playhouse”, says Sod. “I plan to incorporate some of the successful programs started at Seattle Rep, like GirlSpeak, and to expand their education and community programs.”
Allen has worked with Seattle Rep as a teaching artist since 1993, and has worked closely with Sod. She has taught at the University of Washington’s extension program and at St. Martin’s College in Olympia. Ms. Allen is a graduate of Yale University, and serves on the board of directors for Annex Theatre and House of Dames.
Sod says of his successor “Andrea Allen is a terrific choice to assume leadership in Outreach and Education. It is a rare and special thing to have an artist and a top notch administrator who also deeply believes in the work of arts education.”
