News Altar Boyz Cast Album Available at Dodger Stages Starting May 3; Street Date Is May 17 The new cast album of the hot Off-Broadway pop musical Altar Boyz, about a fictional Christian boy group, will be available to fans starting 6-7 PM May 3 at Dodger Stages.

The street date for the disc from Sh-K-Boom Records is May 17, but ticket buyers can snag it before anyone else May 3-17 at the midtown house where the boys have been pumping up the volume.

A special pre-show time, from 6 to 7 PM on May 3 only, has been set for civilians to purchase the CD without buying a ticket, but as a special offer for those early-bird buyers, they can also purchase a ticket for the 8 PM May 3 performance for $25. (Proof of CD purchase required).

The album was recorded March 14.

Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman, in association with Walt Grossman, Ruth Hendel, Sharon Karmazin, Matt Murphy and Mark Shacket, present the new musical, which spoofs the pop genre of boy-bands (N Sync, 98 Degrees, etc.).

Smooth moves and hip-popping acting are part of the territory for these kind of groups, and choreographer Christopher Gattelli received a Lucille Lortel Award for his work May 2. The show has been nominated for Best Musical by all four theatre awards organizations – the Drama Desk, the Drama League, the Outer Critics Circle, and the Lucille Lortel Awards.
