News Alvin Epstein Heads Off-Broadway King Lear by Actors' Shakespeare Project The Actors' Shakespeare Project's staging of King Lear with Alvin Epstein as the title character begins a 15-performance Off-Broadway run June 16.

Patrick Swanson directs the William Shakespeare classic to open at La MaMa ETC Annex June 19.

The Actors' Shakespeare Project's production featuring Epstein as the fallen monarch with feuding daughters played in collaboration with Boston University at the campus' Studio 102 space in June 2005.

Original Boston cast members return including Colin Lane, Allyn Burrows, Ken Cheeseman, Benjamin Evett, Jennie Israel, Doug Lockwood, Paula Langton, Sarah Newhouse and Michael F. Walker.

Epstein was last seen Off-Broadway in the Atlantic Theater Company's The Cherry Orchard. Other recent credits include Endgame (Irish Repertory Theater) Tuesdays With Morrie (Minetta Lane Theatre). The actor made his New York debut in 1956 and has appeared in such memorable turns as the Fool to Orson Welles’ King Lear and the American premieres of Waiting For Godot (as Lucky - which he reprised for the 1961 television premiere opposite Zero Mostel and Burgess Meredith) and Endgame.
