Cabaret fixture Amanda Green will bring her act Put a Little Love in Your Mouth to Off-Broadway's Second Stage Monday, July 16, at 8 PM. Second Stage's current attraction is the Reale brothers musical Once Around the City, which began June 12.
The show will feature tongue-in-cheek songs by Green. Among those on hand to sing will be Brooks Ashmanskas, Mario Cantone, Lea DeLaria, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Billy Stritch and Mary Testa. Lisa Leguillou directs. Tom Kitt is musical director.
Both Stritch and Testa are currently starring in Broadway's 42nd Street. Testa won a Tony Award nomination for her performance. The actress has recently been displaying her cabaret skills, playing dates at Joe's Pub and elsewhere.
DeLaria, too, has played Joe's Pub and recently released an album. She made her theatrical mark in On the Town, as has since performed in The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told and The Rocky Horror Show. Tyler, meanwhile, is often seen in DeLaria's company, whether in Town or Fabulous Story. Last spring, he appeared on his own in Newyorkers at Manhattan Theatre Club. Cantone has acted in a couple New York Shakespeare Festival productions—The Tempest and The Taming of the Shrew—and sparked the success of last season's The Crumble Zone.
Green's previous shows have included Take It Like Amanda. Tickets are $25. For more information, call (212) 246-4422. —By Robert Simonson
