News Amber Iman, Cedric Neal, Tamika Sonja Lawrence, Clinton Roane and Marcus Paul James Will Sing Songs in the Key of Chocolate The songs of composer-lyricist Darius Smith will be presented Feb. 11 at 54 Below in an evening entitled Songs in the Key of Chocolate.

The 11:30 PM concert will feature the talents of Broadway's Amber Iman, Cedric Neal, Tamika Sonja Lawrence, Clinton Roane and Marcus Paul James; stars from the new Off-Broadway Bob Marley musical, Three Little Birds, Jobari Parker-Namdar and Brittany N. Williams; and Jordan Minter and Cassondra James Kellam. Songs in the Key of Chocolate, press notes state, "blends captivating storytelling with decadent soul, haunting harmonies, and infectious grooves into a sweet night of new contemporary musical theatre."

Darius Smith is a graduate of NYU’s Musical Theater Writing Program and Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at Howard University. His works have been performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Aaron Davis Hall, the Duplex Cabaret Theater, The Triad Theater and many others. He has been a Jonathan Larson Award finalist, the recipient of several development grants, and his musical, The Snowy Day (book by David Toney), was nominated for a 2013 Helen Hayes Award for Best TYA Production.
