The musical, which kicks off the theatre's 2011-2012 Broadway Series, will officially open Sept. 30 for a run through Nov. 6. Guarini, who was the season one runner-up on "American Idol," plays the role of slick lawyer Billy Flynn. Two-time Barrymore Award winner Jennie Eisenhower directs.
The cast also features Alicia Jayne Kelly as Roxie Hart, Hillary Elliott as Velma Kelly, Demetria Bailey as Matron "Mama" Morton, Myles McHale as Amos and Eric Longo as Mary Sunshine.
Guarini has been seen on Broadway in American Idiot and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown as well as in a recent regional production of Rent.
Jesse Cline, the artistic director of The Media Theatre, said in a previous statement, "After I saw Justin in Broadway’s American Idiot and Women On The Verge, I felt he would bring a new and excitingly different dimension to the role of Billy Flynn."
Among other artists who have played the Media Theatre are Wanda Sykes, Ann Crumb, David Miller (of pop vocal group Il Divo), Andy Karl and Tony winners Betty Buckley and Judy Kaye.
