PlayBlog "American Idol" Season Auditions Begin July 17; Age Minimum Reduced If you’re going to be 15 years old this summer and itching to audition for season 10 of “American Idol,” you’re in luck.

Previously, the minimum age requirement to audition for the Fox vocal-reality competition was 16. This year, when auditions begin July 17 in Nashville, TN, the age minimum will be relaxed to 15. (The maximum age remains 28.)

The show’s executive producer, Cecile Frot-Coutaz, said in a statement, ?“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16. Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool.”?

The Nashville auditions will take place at the Bridgestone Arena. Other auditions will take place at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI on July 21; in New Orleans, LA, on a stage to be announced on July 26; at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ, Aug. 3; at the Frank Irwin Center in Austin, TX, Aug. 11; and at the AT&T Park in San Francisco, CA, Aug. 11.

Many “Idol” alums have gone on to Broadway and film stardom in addition to lucrative music contracts. Now, you don’t have to wait until you’re 16 to get your shot!
