News Amoralists' Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side Returns for Week-Long Run Aug. 28 The Amoralists bring back their provocative production of The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side for a limited, week-long run beginning Aug. 28 at 9th Space in the East Village.

Authored by Derek Ahonen, The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side premiered in 2009 and has been revived by the Amoralists several times. The production, directed by and featuring Ahonen, reunites much of the original cast. Performances play through Sept. 2.

The Pied Pipers features Matthew Pilieci as Wyatt, James Kautz as Billy, Sarah Lemp as Dear, Katie Broad as Dawn, Nick Lawson as Evan and Ahonen as Donovan.

Here's how it's billed: "An extraordinary gathering of young idealists live as a modern day urban tribe above a vegan restaurant in NYC. Billy, Dawn, Dear and Wyatt are an extended sexual family battling their fears and addictions in order to live their utopian dream. The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side is a celebration of love and the search for human grandness."

The troupe was founded in 2006 by actors James Kautz and Matthew Pilieci and writer Ahonen; their mission is to offer provocative stage works that bear no moral judgment. The Amoralists' work includes The Bad and the Better, Bring Us the Head of Your Daughter, Happy In The Poorhouse and the Adam Rapp play Ghosts in the Cottonwoods.
