Paying homage to music and lyricist writer Pritchard's Nashville roots, the score features heartbreaking ballads and anthems. Performances are set to run Oct. 20 through Nov. 29. Directed by JV Mercanti and part of the 59E59 5A season, Songbird puts a Southern twist on the Anton Chekov classic, The Seagull. Spanger will play a fading country star returning to her Nashville home after many years to help launch the music career of a son she abandoned.
The cast also features Kacie Sheik (Hair), Andy Taylor (Once), Ephie Aardema (Parade at Lincoln Center In Concert) and Adam Cochran (The Last Goodbye at The Old Globe). Further casting details to be announced at a later date.
