Bryan Batt, formerly of Forbidden Broadway Strikes Back as well as the stage and film Jeffrey, heads the cast of Ascendancy, a new play by Gary Bonasorte premiering Sunday, May 17 at 3 PM at Theatre Off Park (224 Waverly Place) in New York.

This Rattlestick Production, directed by Rob Bunday, also features Tasha Lawrence, Dominic Cuskern, Linda Powell, Rob Bogue, Michael Malone and Kenneth Favre.

Ascendancy takes places at an overburdened AIDS clinic in the time, not that long ago, when the new class of HIV-drugs was first showing promise. The play is described as "a humorous and poignant spiritual odyssey through a landscape accustomed to despair."

Ascendancy was first workshopped and then premiered at Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston, allowing Bonasorte a full production before opening in New York. It will be presented Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM through June 14. Tickets are $15. For reservations and information, call (212) 627-2556.
