Next month, performances will begin at Houston’s Alley Theatre for the world premiere of Lawrence Wright’s Cleo, a comedy that chronicles the infamous love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton during the filming of Cleopatra. The play takes audiences behind the scenes of the 1963 movie and the scandalous romance that began there.

Cleo is directed by Bob Balaban and will run April 6–April 29.

Rounding out the cast of Cleo are Richard Short as Richard Burton, Mark Capri as Rex Harrison, Brian Dykstra as Joe Mankiewicz, and Adam Gibbs as Eddie Fisher.
