Rehearsals for one of the most anticipated events of the summer - Guys and Dolls in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl - begin July 20. Richard Jay-Alexander, who helmed last summer's acclaimed Les Misérables in Concert at the Bowl, directs with choreography by Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie. The production, which will play the famed venue July 31-Aug. 2, features Ellen Greene (as Miss Adelaide), Jessica Biel (as Sarah Brown), Scott Bakula (as Nathan Detroit) and Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell (as Sky Masterson).
About the start of rehearsals, director Jay-Alexander told Playbill.com, "It will be the first time the entire cast and creative team meet. I call it summer stock in hyper-drive! Fast and, hopefully, fantastic! Donna McKechnie is choreographing, and I have seen the dances. I cried — that's all I can say. And then there's that great Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, under the baton of Kevin Stites. It's the greatest American musical, and we plan to deliver the wit and the fun of the show, with a top-notch cast of musical theatre veterans. Jessica Biel and Beau Bridges [Arvide Abernathy] will surely surprise the audience. If you live in the area, come! If you don't, I promise it will be worth the trip! " (Visit www.hollywoodbowl.com.)
