News Andersen, Asher, Cutrell, Reyburn and More Set for My Friend, The Cat Reading A reading of Phil Geoffrey Bond's My Friend, The Cat will be presented Feb. 23 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

Playwright Bond will read the short piece at 8 PM with musical assistance from a host of vocalists, including Tom Andersen, Lisa Asher, Brandon Cutrell, Suzanne Fiore, Julie Reyburn and Alysha Umphress. Ray Fellman will be the evening's musical director. Cabaretgoers can expect to hear the songs of Carole Bayer-Sager and Carole King, John Bucchino, Charlie Chaplin and Geoffrey Parsons, Walter Donaldson and Gus Kahn, Babbie Green, Laura Nyro and Andrew Lloyd Webber. My Friend, The Cat, according to press notes, "centers around the life and times of Chesterson Bond, and his wild and funny antics over the course of ten years. From adventures in bed making to the cat who learned to speak English and eventually drive a station wagon, this is a story for anyone who’s ever loved a pet."

Phil Geoffrey Bond, who founded The Storefront Theatre in 2000, has also penned The Other Side of Darkness, The Citadel, Sheridan Square, My Queer Youth, Virtual Reality and Generation X.
