News Andrea Marcovicci Opens Morgans Cabaret Season at Philly's Prince Sept. 17 The 2008-09 Morgans Cabaret season at the Prince Music Theater in Philadelphia begins Sept. 17-28 with Andrea Marcovicci performing Lorenz Hart's lyrics and Richard Rodgers' melodies.

Morgans Cabaret in the Independence Foundation Black Box at the Prince is one of the few venues in Philadelphia devoted to an entire season of professional cabaret performers.

Andrea Marcovicci Sings Rodgers & Hart (with Shelly Markham as musical director and Jered Egan on bass) will play Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday at 8:30 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.

Andrea Marcovicci starred on Broadway in the short-lived musical Ambassador and in Frank D. Gilroy's Any Given Day. Her screen credits include roles in "The Front," "Someone to Love," "Jack the Bear," "Who Is Henry Jaglom?," "The Water Engine" and "Trapper John, M.D." It has been the cabaret stage, however, where she has received the most acclaim. The singer-actress has performed at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and in concert halls throughout the world. Her solo albums are numerous and include "Marcovicci Loves Movies," "What Is Love?," "Just Kern," "December Songs," "New Words," "Live from London" and "Some Other Time."

  • Oct. 29-Nov. 9: Steve Ross: Good Thing Going A Tribute to Stephen Sondheim: "For his Morgan's Cabaret debut, we welcome his latest triumph, a highly personal Stephen Sondheim show that opened recently at the Algonquin."
  • Feb. 11-22, 2009: Eddie Bruce: Bruce on Bennett a Salute to Tony Bennett: "Philadelphia favorite Eddie Bruce performs his tribute to the music of Tony Bennett just in time for Valentine's Day. In this show featuring songs from Bennett's long and varied career, Eddie will perform the hits that have had the most meaning to him. Eddie will include stories and anecdotes that bring the music and the man to life, and will be backed up by the incomparable Tom Adams Trio." Expect "Because of You," "Just in Time" and "Steppin' Out."
  • March 11-22, 2009: Christine Andreas: Two for the Road, A Well Traveled Musical Recollection: "For almost 20 years, Christine Andreas and her husband, composer Martin Silvestri, have effortlessly shifted gears from musical theatre to cabaret to concert halls. Two for the Road is their personal scrapbook of musical souvenirs collected along the way. Silvestri's empathetic arrangements guide Andreas' beautiful and distinctive renditions of the American Songbook. This musical marriage results in a performance that has solicited raves from audiences."
  • April 29 - May 10, 2009: Barbara Brussell: Almost Like Being in Love, The Lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner: "Fellow fans of Lerner are in for some rich listening with this Prince debut. Barbara is a fearless singer compiling fresh, intimate arrangements with warm, sensitive vocals that let these Lerner lyrics shine out in all their glory. She is more than willing to be revealing, fragile, even foolishly and naively romantic. She dives right into the romantic waters. Whether belting or taking a turn at quiet reflection, the singer is commanding." Single tickets are $41 for weekday evenings and Sunday matinees, $50 for Friday evening performances, and $54 for Saturday evenings. Reserved front row seating is also available for an additional premium.
