News Andrea Martin Is Golde in Fiddler, Opposite Fierstein, Starting Jan. 4, 2005 Andrea Martin, the Tony Award winner of My Favorite Year and a Tony nominee as Aunt Eller of Broadway's recent Oklahoma!, will play Golde to Harvey Fierstein's Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, producers announced Dec. 13.

Their start date at the Minskoff Theatre will be Jan. 4, 2005.

Harvey Fierstein is the winner of four Tony Awards in four different categories: Best Actor in a Musical for Hairspray (2003), Best Actor in a Play and Best Play for writing and starring in Torch Song Trilogy (1983), and Best Book of a Musical for La Cage aux Folles (1984).

Andrea Martin’s Broadway credits include Oklahoma! (Tony award nomination); Candide (Tony award nomination); My Favorite Year (Tony, Drama Desk Awards).

David Leveaux is in rehearsal with the company to keep the Tony-nominated production alive with the new stars. Alfred Molina and Randy Graff are expected to leave the show Jan. 2, 2005, at the end of their contracts.

This new production of the Joseph Stein-Jerome Bock Sheldon Harnick musical opened Feb. 26, 2004, and is produced by James L. Nederlander, Stewart F. Lane/ Bonnie Comley, Harbor Entertainment, Terry Allen Kramer, Bob Boyett/Lawrence Horowitz and Clear Channel Entertainment.

Fiddler has scenic design by Tom Pye, costume design by Vicki Mortimer, lighting design by Tony Award winner Brian MacDevitt, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners. Hair design is by David Brian Brown, with musical staging by Jonathan Butterell and musical direction by Kevin Stites, leading a 25-piece orchestra featuring the original orchestrations by Don Walker. Jerome Robbins choreography is on display.

The playing schedule for Fiddler is Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM and Sunday at 3 PM. Tickets range from $35-$100, and are available through Ticketmaster.com at (212) 307-4100.
