The musical based on Natalie Babbitt's popular 1975 children's novel has a score by Burnt Part Boys songwriters Chris Miller (music) and Nathan Tysen (lyrics) and a book by Tony Award-nominated playwright Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde).
Tony Award-winning Book of Mormon director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw will stage the musical about a young girl who befriends a unique family that has gained eternal life by drinking from a spring that flows from a tree in the woods. Rob Berman is musical director.
Tuck Everlasting will play Boston July 28-Aug. 28. While it is billed as a pre-Broadway engagement, dates for a New York revival have not been announced. Broadway Across America, Beth Williams, Howard & Janet Kagan and Barry Brown, produce.
Keenan-Bolger, who stars as Crutchie in Disney's Newsies, will star in the central role of immortal boy Jesse Tuck opposite Sink as a young girl he encounters in the woods. Sink currently appears in the Broadway cast of Annie.
The cast will also feature Carmello (Parade, Scandalous) as Ma Tuck, Emmy winner Michael Park (How To Succeed…, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) as Pa Tuck, Fred Applegate (Sister Act) as Constable Joe, Marylouise Burke (Fuddy Meers) as Nana, David Garrison (Titanic) as The Man In The Yellow Suit, Michael Wartella (The Kid) as Hugo and Valerie Wright (Elf) as Mother. Much of the Boston cast has been involved in workshops of Tuck Everlasting in the past several years.
Here's how it's billed: "If you could live forever, would you? That’s the eternal question of Tuck Everlasting. In a small New England town, a young girl dreaming of adventure stumbles upon a family with a fabulous secret. Their chance encounter sends them on an unforgettable journey that will test everything they believe about love, life, and what it means to truly feel alive."
