Newsies and Tuck Everlasting star Andrew Keenan-Bolger is set to perform a solo cabaret act July 23 at 8 PM at Cape May Stage in Cape May, New Jersey.
Keenan-Bolger originated the role of Crutchie in Disney’s stage adaptation of Newsies and followed that by originating the role of Jesse Tuck in Broadway’s Tuck Everlasting.
Keenan-Bolger's cabaret chronicles the unique and often comedic journey of a young kid performing on Broadway becoming an adult playing a young kid on Broadway. His songbook ranges from Golden Era classics to contemporary Broadway, and includes highlights from his stage roles in the musicals Newsies, Tuck Everlasting, and Mary Poppins.
Keenan-Bolger made his Broadway debut as Chip in Beauty and the Beast, and went on to play roles in the Broadway productions of Seussical and Mary Poppins. He is also a director, author, and filmmaker.
The concert series also includes Will and Anthony Nunziata (July 9), Jimmy Webb (July 16), and Anita Gillette and Penny Fuller (August 13).
The Newsies alum takes us inside his new neighborhood of DUMBO and shows us how he has been spending his summer.

“I think summer is the best season to experience New York.”

"I love DUMBO. It’s got this kind of nitty-gritty industrial charm of 19th century architecture mixed with this modern start-up vibe. I think there is a ton of culture and art here."
Keenan-Bolger hasn't been exploring Brooklyn alone. He's been accompanied by his new puppy Archie.
After admiring dogs from afar, moving to a dog-friendly building provided the Broadway star with the perfect opportunity to become a proud puppy owner. “It’s been amazing. I certainly have a lot of respect for any other dog owner, especially people who got them as puppies.”
One of the highlights from Keenan-Bolger's exploration has been the Archway, the public venue under the Manhattan Bridge. "Almost every night, they have either musicians or artist displaying work and so often, I’ve just been walking to the grocery store and happened upon some artist I’ve never heard of playing. It’s really cool."
“I think the heat forces everyone outdoors and it just becomes a melting pot of cultures and peoples. There is a lot to see."

"It seems like everywhere you turn, there is something going on. I think as far as experiences go in the city, for whatever reason, summer brings out the best ones."
"That’s what I love about New York: you think you’ve seen it all, and then there is some neighbor you haven’t discovered."
“I think [Dumbo has] the best view of the city possible – It’s funny that the best view of the city is after you leave it.”
