Kartheiser joins a cast that includes the previously announced Brienin Bryant, Polly Lee, Maggie Moore and Janelle Anne Robinson. In a statement, the young actor said, "The theatre has always been my first love. I'm thrilled to be part of this production at Cherry Lane Theatre and excited to be working with this amazing company."
Directed by Michael Morris, Slag Heap will begin previews March 29 at the Cherry Lane with an official opening April 13; closing night is set for May 7. The play, according to press notes, "is the strangely hilarious yet moving chronicle of wounded youth, born from Thatcher's politics and the aftermath of Britain's Industrial Revolution, in a world where the commodification of humanity has become the primary industry."
The creative team for the production comprises Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Bart Fasbender (sound design), Michael Brown (sound design) and Michael Krass (costume design).
Vincent Kartheiser has been seen in the films "Untamed Heart," "Alaska," "Masterminds," "Another Day in Paradise," "Strike!," "Crime & Punishment in Suburbia" and "Dandelion." He is perhaps best known for his work as Connor on the drama series "Angel."
The Cherry Lane Theatre is located at 38 Commerce Street. Tickets, priced at $35, are available by calling (212) 239-6200. The production will play Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays-Fridays at 8 PM and Saturdays at 5 and 9 PM. Visit www.cherrylanetheatre.com for more information.
