Andy Tennant will direct the film, which features a screenplay by J Mills Goodloe, Sal Paskowitz and Allison Burnett. The Summit/Lakeshore co-production, according to the on-line news source, features Heigl, who years earlier "was killed in a car accident, until a simultaneous lightning strike resuscitated her and physiologically locked her in her late 20s. Adaline lives a solitary existence until she meets a man worth losing her immortality to grow old with."
Lansbury will play her daughter, who, now in her mid-80s, needs Heigl's care.
Most recently seen on Broadway in A Little Night Music, Lansbury won Tony Awards for Mame, Dear World, the 1975 revival of Gypsy, Sweeney Todd and the 2009 revival of Blithe Spirit. She has been Oscar-nominated three times, for "Gaslight," "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "The Manchurian Candidate," and is also remembered for playing Jessica Fletcher on the popular detective series "Murder, She Wrote" and for voicing Mrs. Potts in the classic Disney film "Beauty and the Beast," among numerous other credits.
