Producer/director Ann Marie DeAngelo asked Hamlisch if he would write a song that "caught the spirit of dancers as they move into their second act."

Featuring music by Hamlisch and lyrics by Holmes, "I'm Really Dancing" will be performed at the gala evening by Tony winner Angela Lansbury and others. The new song, described as "a light-hearted anthem that captures the spirit of the dancer that always stays alive, whether they transition within the field or out of it,"  features a musical arrangement by David Caldwell with choreography by DeAngelo.

Five-time Tony Award winner Lansbury, most recently on Broadway in the acclaimed revival of A Little Night Music,  also hosts the event, which will be followed by an anniversary supper with the stars at The Grand Ballroom at The Hilton New York.

The evening is scheduled to offer highlight moments from past galas and will feature prominent artists from America's greatest dance companies along with Broadway's show-stopping numbers and stars. The evening is produced and directed by Ann Marie DeAngelo.

Entertainers include Hamlisch, Bebe Neuwirth, Ann Reinking, Chita Rivera, Karen Ziemba, Charlotte d'Amboise and Edward Villella as well as artists from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, The Joffrey Ballet, MOMIX, National Dance Institute and Parsons Dance. The evening will also feature the presentation of several awards: The 2010 Rolex Dance Award will be presented to Twyla Tharp; The Career Transition For Dancers' Awards for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance will be presented to the organization's four union founders (Actors’ Equity Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, American Guild of Musical Artists, Screen Actors Guild) as well as an award each to The Barth Family and to the CTFD President Cynthia G. Fischer; and the Capezio Ballet Makers Dance Foundation's 59th annual Capezio Dance Award will be presented to Trisha Brown.

Honoring a quarter century of support, Career Transition for Dancers "connects dancers to their future, and embraces the unique legacy of dance and dancers that enriches the human condition," according to press notes.
