Theatre veteran Angela Lansbury will be awarded the Acting Comany's First Lifetime Achievement Award on Nov. 11.

Lansbury will be presented with the award by Carol Burnett during the Acting Company's 30th Anniversary Gala at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in California. The dinner-dance will be chaired by Martin Sheen, Dina Merrill and Ted Harlety; the committee also includes Julie Andrews, Bea Arthur, Lily Tomlin, Kelly Chapman, Ron Meyer, Jerry Herman, Bob Mackie, Jerry Orbach, Harold Prince, Shelly Fabares, Mike Farrell as well as Lansbury's twin brothers, Edgar and Bruce, her son Anthony Shaw and nephew James Lansbury.

The Acting Company was founded in 1972 by Lansbury's friend John Houseman. America's foremost touring repertory theatre and arts education, The Acting Company has produced such talents as Patti LuPone, Kevin Kline, Jesse L. Martin, Frances Conroy and David Ogden Stiers. In a statement, Lansbury had this to say about the famed Company: "This wonderful group brings the finest theatre to underserved and disadvantaged communities across the country. In turn, that provides an invaluable training ground for young actors. I only wish they'd been around when I started out!"

Perhaps best known her for work as TV sleuth Jessica Fletcher on "Murder, She Wrote," Angela Lansbury is one of the most celebrated stars of the Broadway stage. She received Tony Awards for her performances in Sweeney Todd, Gypsy, Dear World, Mame and Sweeney Todd, and she also appeared on The Great White Way in Hotel Paradiso, A Taste of Honey, Anyone Can Whistle, The King and I and A Little Family Business. Her numerous film credits include "Gaslight," "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "The Manchurian Candidate," all of which brought the actress Academy Award nominations.

Tickets for the 30th Anniversary Gala are priced at $300, $500 and $1,000; the latter also includes the VIP reception. For more information, call (818) 817-2310.
