Directed by Dave Ebersole, the readings feature the talents of Lizzy Dalton-Negron as the Angel with Steve Pollack, Mike Raimondo, Rhonda Goldstein, Jay Ronca, Chris Cherkis, Jennifer Summerfield, and J. Edward Murray.
Part I of Angels in America, Millennium Approaches, will be presented Jan. 2 at 8 PM; Part II, Perestroika, will be offered Jan. 3 at 8 PM; and both parts, separated by a pot-luck supper, will be presented Jan. 4 at 2 PM.
In a statement director Ebersole said, "A staged reading can mean many things, and when the piece is split up into two parts stretching almost three hours each, you have to make it visually interesting for an audience to digest. Some scenes the action will be fully realized, while others will only be hinted at. The idea is to keep the action moving while bringing the text forefront."
The readings feature original music by Mick Loro as well as lighting design by Alan Stamford. Half the proceeds from the readings will benefit The Angels of Mercy HIV ministry of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church.
