Actress Penny (Kate Weatherhead) and her casting director friend Tim (Colin Hanlon) end up working on a reading of a new musical in this latest episode, which features Ann Harada (Avenue Q) as the reading's director, Tess Chang; Tony Award nominee Alan Campbell (Sunset Boulevard) as Sam Moriarty, the smarmy director at another audition; and Tyler Maynard (The Little Mermaid, Altar Boyz) as over-enthusiastic auditioning actor Chad Davis.

Patrick Heusinger (Next Fall), Santino Fontana (Importance of Being Earnest, Billy Elliot) and Anne L. Nathan (Thoroughly Modern Millie) return for the third episode, which also features Jessica Grove (Sunday in the Park with George), Becky Gulsvig (Legally Blonde tour), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Mary Poppins) and Annaleigh Ashford (Wicked).

The series was created by Weatherhead and Keenan-Bolger, who also co-wrote the songs featured in the episode with Adam Gwon (Ordinary Days) and Devon Goffman.
