The appearance coincides with their joint appearance in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Met. In three performances this month and several more in January and February 2006, Netrebko sings Gilda and Villaz‹n is the Duke of Mantua. Their December 17 performance will be broadcast live starting at 1:30 p.m., in the first of the Met's 2005-06 weekly broadcasts.
Lileana Blain-Cruz directs the new production, opening April 23.
