Stage and screen actress Anne Hathaway appeared as Princess Penelope, a new sidekick to Krusty the Clown, on Fox's animated comedy "The Simpsons."

At first against the idea of the scene-stealing actress, Krusty soon takes a liking to Hathaway's character — who is revealed to be a Mineola, Long Island, girl and card-carrying Krusty fan — when she professes her love for him.

Hathaway gets the chance to sing three songs, "A Princess Knows," "Glitter and Sparkle" and "Watered with Love" (by the team of composer Alf Clausen and lyricist Stephanie Gillis), as well as part of Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer's "Moon River." Stage veterans Jackie Mason (as a rabbi) and the late Eartha Kitt (as Krusty's late ex-wife) also appear in the episode.

Titled "Once Upon a Time in Springfield," the full show can be found at hulu.com:
