HOUSTON -- Anne Rogers co-starred as "Mamita" with Gavin MacLeod (Honore) and Liliane Montevecchi (Alicia) in Paper Mill Playhouse's 1996 revival of Lerner and Loewe's Gigi. All three currently reprise their roles for Theatre Under The Stars through Feb. 1.
"My whole house originally came on a track [in New Jersey]," she said. "Backstage was enormous but out front wasn't. It's like a football stadium here [in Texas]. Spacing is so different. Pieces are brought on individually. It's a big adjustment using the stage more."
Another adjustment: a new director, Bruce Lumpkin.
Rogers, who played Eliza Doolittle in the first (1957) national tour of My Fair Lady, will be doing the voice of Mrs. Potts in future voiceovers for theme parks, floats, etc. related to Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
Tickets for Gigi at The Music Hall cost $15-$48. Call 1-800-678-5440.-- By Peter Szatmary
