News Annie Baker and Sam Gold Reunite for World Premiere of John; Casting Announced Signature Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming Off-Broadway world premiere of Annie Baker's John, helmed by Fun Home director and Tony winner Sam Gold. The production will kick off Signature's new season, reuniting long-time collaborators Baker and Gold.

John takes place at a bed and breakfast in Gettysburg, PA, the week after Thanksgiving. The cast will include Broadway vet Lois Smith, who is a two-time Tony nominee for The Grapes of Wrath and Buried Childfive-time Emmy Award nominee Georgia Engel ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show"), Christopher Abbott ("Girls") and Hong Chau ("Inherent Vice").

Performances are set to begin July 22 and continue through Aug. 30, with an opening night scheduled for Aug. 11 in the Irene Diamond Stage at the Pershing Square Signature Center.

Baker and Gold previously worked together on her Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Flick, currently being revived with the same creative team Off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre. For more information visit TheBarrowStreet.

Similar to The Flick, which caused a stir for its long running-time when it was first staged at Playwrights Horizons, Baker's newest work will have an expected running time of three hours and 30 minutes.
