The Signature Theatre has announced a third extension for the world premiere of The Antipodes, the new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker. Following her acclaimed play John, the playwright will return to the Off-Broadway theatre this spring with a new work about the kinds of stories we tell.
With direction by Lila Neugebauer, The Antipodes began April 4 and will officially open April 23. The engagement will now play through June 4 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, located at 480 West 42nd Street, New York.
The cast is made up of Phillip James Brannon (Tiny Beautiful Things), Josh Charles (The Good Wife), Josh Hamilton (Madam Secretary), Danny Mastrogiorgio (Gotham), Danny McCarthy (Prison Break), Emily Cass McDonnell (Mercury Fur), Brian Miskell (The Flick), Will Patton (Fool For Love), and Nicole Rodenburg (Venus in Fur).
Similarly to John, of which very little was revealed prior to beginning performances, the description for The Antipodes reads simply: “A play about people telling stories about telling stories.“
The creative team includes Laura Jellinek (scenic design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Tyler Micoleau (lighting design), and Bray Poor (sound design). Laura Smith is the production stage manager. Casting is by Telsey + Company.
