Cable TV's HBO will film a special performance of porn star turned performance artist Annie Sprinkle's Herstory of Porn: Reel to Real for its "Real Sex" series. The show, which closes Nov. 1, added a special Halloween performance, Oct. 31 at 3 PM.

The American Theatre has quite a lot of "Annies," from the Little Orphan who sings "Tomorrow" to the tough-talking Annie Oakley, who can't get a man with a gun. But there's never been one quite like Annie Sprinkle, the former adult film actress who has been shaping her experiences in the biz into performance art for several years now.

In Herstory, Sprinkle takes the audience on a theatrical guided tour of seven very different movie theaters, including the Pink Pussy Cat Sinema [sic], the New Age Sex Multiplex, the Museum of Modern Art, and Sappho's Film Co-op. At each stop along the way Sprinkle interacts with clips from some of the two hundred movies she's made over the past quarter of a century, from "Teenage Deviant", to the MASH parody "SMASH'D." Sprinkle explains sex-industry terms like "DP," "rainbow shower," "money shot" and "shrimping." Calling herself a "metamorphosexual, sex positive feminist" and "pleasure activist," Sprinkle is devoted to teaching acceptance of sexuality, AIDS education, and being a "sex-work pioneer."
