Lilla Crawford, who starred in the title role in the 2012 Broadway revival of Annie and as Little Red Riding Hood in the 2014 film adaptation of Into the Woods, is one of six young actors cast in the new Netflix series The Who Was? Show, according to Deadline.
The historical comedy sketch program, which introduces the younger generation to well-known figures from the past, will also feature Hayley Tju, Adam Hochstetter, Bentley Green, Zach Timson, and Kirrille Berger as well as Comedy Central's Andy Daly, who is cast as a meddlesome TV executive. Inspired by the Who Was? biography series, the TV program will offer a mix of live action, animated shorts, improvisation, sketches, musical performances, and guest appearances.
The young actors will play themselves as well as famous and infamous characters in the show-within-a-show.
Crawford will also voice the lead character in Nickelodeon's upcoming animated series Sunny Deal, which premieres August 21.
“We went on a cross-country casting search and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the six amazingly talented cast members we discovered. We feel we’ve struck comedy gold,” said Netflix Executive Bob Higgins in a statement, “and Andy Daly agreeing to join us is an embarrassment of comic riches…we’re unbelievably lucky and thrilled to have them all on The Who Was? Show.”
The 13 episodes are scheduled to premiere in 2018.
