PlayBlog Anthony Warlow and Lucy Maunder Sing "Now" from Dr. Zhivago (Video) Internationally-known Australian musical theatre star Anthony Warlow will soon make his return to the stage in the new musical Dr. Zhivago, directed by Des McAnuff.

The work, previously seen at La Jolla Playhouse in 2006, was penned by Lucy Simon (music), Michael Korie and Amy Powers (lyrics) and Michael Weller (book). Composer Simon, who wrote the score to The Secret Garden, worked with Warlow when he starred as Archibald in the original Australian production that coming-of-age tale. About the Zhivago title player, Simon said, "Anthony commands a stage, a rare leading man — he gets behind the character and with that unique voice enriches the story being told. I knew in my heart that here was the man to tell this love story."

Based on the famous 1958 Nobel Prize-winning novel by Russian author Boris Pasternak, Zhivago is set against the backdrop of the snowy country before and after the Russian Revolution. The work follows the story of a surgeon-poet and his muse Lara. It was adapted for the 1965 film starring Omar Shariff as the title character and Julie Christie as Lara.

The production, currently in rehearsals, has released several videos offering songs from the show, press event footage and intros to the cast.

Here is Warlow, with leading lady Lucy Maunder, performing the song "Now."

More video from the show, including a full performance of "On the Edge of Time" — which the duo performed for the Lord Mayor of Sydney on New Year's Eve — can be found here.

Performances will begin Feb. 11 at the Lyric Theatre, Star City, in Sydney. The production will then move to Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre April 9.  Playbill.com recently posted rehearsal photos and shots of Warlow and Maunder at the New Year's gala.
