The Arizona Theatre Company production of Hair, starring Joey Calveri, Rashidra Scott, Michael Buchanan and Kyle Harris, has been extended through Jan. 25 at Phoenix's Herberger Theatre Center.

Performances began Dec. 31 and were originally scheduled to conclude Jan. 18. Six additional performances have been added to accommodate audience ticket demand through Jan. 25.

ATC artistic director David Ira Goldstein stages the production, which played a Tucson run Nov. 29-Dec. 20, 2008, prior to arriving in Phoenix.

The cast features ATC veteran Kyle Harris as Claude, Joey Calveri (We Will Rock You Las Vegas) as Berger, Rashidra Scott (Avenue Q) as Dionne, Michael Buchanan (Cry-Baby) as Woof, Lauren Lebowitz (NYMF's To Paint the Earth) as Jeanie, Sal Sabella (The Phantom of the Opera) as Dad/Margaret Mead, Erica Sweany (Cats) as Crissy, Morgan James as Sheila and Kyle Taylor Parker as Hud.

Tribe members also include Meghan Murphy, Alexis Sims, Jake Wilson, Matt DeAngelis, Eric Anthony, Miles A. Johnson, Melvin Bell III, Stefanie Brown, Tamika Lawrence, Jacqueline Rez, Rebecca Spigelman and Stephen Turner.

Written by Gerome Ragni and James Rado with music by Galt MacDermot, the Arizona Theatre Company production of Hair has choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Christopher McGovern. "Hair," according to press notes, "tells the story of a tribe of young hippies struggling to express themselves and change the world. When Claude receives his draft notice, their innocence and optimism comes face to face with the realities of war."

The production has a design team that comprises John Ezell (scenic design), Kish Finnegan (costume design), Michael Gilliam (lighting design) and Abe Jacob (sound design).

Phoenix performances take place at the Herberger Theater Center (222 E. Monroe Street); call the box office at (602) 256-6995.
