A.T.C. artistic director David Ira Goldstein will stage Next to Normal, which is a co-production with the San Jose Repertory Theatre. The Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about a woman battling with bipolar disorder is written by Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics). It will run Sept. 15-Oct. 6 (Tucson) and Oct. 11-28 (Phoenix).
Eric Simonson's Lombardi, about Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi, will receive its Southwest premiere Oct. 20-Nov. 10 (Tucson) and Nov. 15-Dec. 2 (Phoenix).
Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Bonnie & Clyde) will direct the Arizona premiere of Paul Gordon's musical Emma, based on the Jane Austen novel, running Dec. 1-22 (Tucson) and Dec. 31-Jan. 20, 2013 (Phoenix).
A.T.C. will also align with San Jose Rep for a co-production of Mark St. Germain's Freud's Last Session. Stephen Wrentmore will direct the intimate work about the famous psychoanalyst that will run Jan. 19-Feb. 9, 2013 (Tucson) and Feb. 14-March 3, 2013 (Phoenix).
Goldstein will direct Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys, about two veteran comedians who reunite to rehash their schtick, which will be presented March 2-23, 2013 (Tucson) and March 28-April 14, 2013 (Phoenix). Bruce Norris' acclaimed play Clybourne Park, which uses A Raisin in the Sun as a touchstone for a new look at race and real estate in America, will close the season April 6-27, 2013 (Tucson) and May 2-19, 2013 (Phoenix).
