Coconut Grove Playhouse's intimate, 135-seat Encore Room will offer Art Metrano's autobiographical solo show, Metrano's Accidental Comedy, Nov. 13-Jan. 20, under the direction of Joe Bologna.

Metrano is the character actor who might be best known as Lt. Mauser of the "Police Academy" films. The actor, seen on national television with his comedy-magic act, The Amazing Metrano, broke his back in a freak household accident and was confined to a wheelchair. Part of his journey to re-invent himself has been creating and starring in the new play. He bills it as "a story of renewed spirit coupled with outrageous humor."

Metrano has guested on many TV series, and recently appeared on "The District" with Craig T. Nelson. Metrano's Accidental Comedy had an extended run at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles in 2000, under Bologna's direction.

At the Miami-area theatre, Stephen Lambert is scenic designer, Steve Shapiro designed sound and Eric Nelson is lighting designer.

Tickets at the Miami nonprofit resident theatre range $25-$30. Coconut Grove is at 3500 Main Highway in Coconut Grove, FL. For information, call (305) 442-4000 or visit www.cgplayhouse.com. — By Kenneth Jones
