News Art World Donates Work for Auction to Benefit Foreman's Ontological Most theatre companies would corral a collection of musical theatre stars as entertainment for an upcoming benefit. Not Richard Foreman, the downtown Manhattan auteur who runs Ontological-Hysteric Theatre.

For a silent auction running June 6-12, Foreman has attracted donations from a who's who of the New York art scene. Among the photographers, painters and sculptors who have offered work are a group who could easily fill a wing or two at the Museum of Modern Art: Brice Marden, Kiki Smith, Cindy Sherman, David Salle, Richard Serra, Lee Friedlander, Chuck Close, Tony Oursler, Terry Winters, Nayland Blake, John Waters, Jim Lambie and Louise Bourgeois. The auction will be held at Marianne Boesky Gallery, 535 West 22nd St. All sales "will assist in building a Fund for New Work, which will support the continued creation, development, rehearsal and production of new plays created by Richard Foreman."

Foreman's latest work was King Cowboy Rufus Rules The Universe, which recently concluded its run. His next work, The Gods Are Pounding My Head, will star Jay Smith and T. Ryder Smith and Swedish actress, Charlatta Mohlin.
