Together with our board and staff, I am proud to have developed a bastion of new work through our Pilot Reading Series; and to have enhanced the quality of our mainstage and KIDDSTUFF productions by integrating nationally celebrated talent with local luminaries," Flynn said in a statement.

Flynn is currently under commission at the Huntington Theatre Company with writing parter Brooks Ashmanskas for a musical adaptation of For Love of the Game. The two also penned Lily, a musical based on Edith Wharton's "The House of Mirth."

Stephanie Yankwitt, Hangar associate artistic director, will serve as acting artistic director for the Hangar through fall of 2013. Flynn hopes to return to direct mainstage productions at the Hangar in future seasons.
