The Atlantic Theatre Company (ATC) production of David Mamet's American Buffalo has been extended through May 21 to satisfy the demand for tickets.

"It's because of the demand," a production source told Playbill On-Line. "It's going until May 21. We had a sold-out box office for the entire run." As previously reported, single ticket sales at the Atlantic Theater for the ATC production had surpassed those of the theatre company's previous record breaking show, The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

Production sources reported that by the time previews for American Buffalo began on March 3, the theatre had topped the number of tickets that Beauty Queen had sold by the time of its first preview.

As reported earlier, the Atlantic Theater Company's production of David Mamet's American Buffalo started previews March 3 in New York City. Just transferred from a successful run at London's Donmar Warehouse, the limited engagement opens March 16 and runs through April 23.

Directed by Neil Pepe, American Buffalo stars William H. Macy, Philip Baker Hall and Mark Webber. Tickets are $45 for all performances. The Atlantic Theatre is located at 336 West 20th Street.
