The cast of the "Great Performances" concert boasts three-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald as well as Kim Criswell, Thomas Hampson and Brent Barrett. The evening also features the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. (McDonald, Criswell, Hampson and Barrett can also be heard on the EMI recording of the 1953 musical that was released in 1999.)

Featuring music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Wonderful Town is based on the popular book and hit play My Sister Eileen. The musical recounts the adventures of two Ohio sisters who arrive in New York in Greenwich Village in the 1930's. The score features such tunes as "Ohio," "One Hundred Easy Ways," "A Little Bit in Love," "A Quiet Girl" and "It's Love."

WGBH in Boston and other PBS stations will begin airing Wonderful Town Dec. 22 at 9 PM ET. Check local listings for air dates in other cities.
