The Austin Babtist [sic] Women, Austin, Texas' drag comedians, will host a benefit performance and auction for the city's HIV Wellness Center Dec. 19 at the Rainbow Cattle Company. The Women (known by their stage names Ethyl Mae Studebaker, Ima Spinster, Ophelia Faith, The Widow Modine, and Trudy Duty) will perform at 9 PM with Margaret Wright, the Capitol City Men's Chorus, the Cow Gurlz, Kelly Kline, Scarlett Leigh and more. Austin TV's Troy Kimmel will be master of ceremonies.
Bits of Broadway on the block include items from Lauren Bacall, Olympia Dukakis, Debbie Reynolds, Treat Williams, Katherine Helmond, Estelle Getty, Lily Tomlin, Sally field, Shelley Winters, Carol Burnett, Betty White, Susan Lucci and Greg Louganis, as well as an autographed self portrait of Bea Arthur, an autographed Matthew Broderick photo and Playbill from Night Must Fall and an autographed photo, a Louis Brial print and Hirschfeld print of Pat Carroll. Sixteen autographed posters will also be offered with the original casts of Jekyll & Hyde, Bring In Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk, Titanic, Ragtime, The Lion King, Fosse and Footloose contributing alongside Cathy Rigby's Peter Pan, The Scarlet Pimpernel 2.0, Electra, Lea DeLaria, Betty Comden and Adolph Green on On The Town, Alan Cumming and Natasha Richardson on Cabaret and the current casts of The Phantom of the Opera, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables and Miss Saigon.
An autographed script from the television show "Will and Grace" will also be auctioned, signed by Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Broadway's Megan Mullally (How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Grease).
