News Avant Garde-Arama! to Feature Arias and Hoffman at PS 122 Joey Arias and Jackie Hoffman will perform during Performance Space 122's Avant Garde-Arama! festival, which will begin Sept. 18 in the East Village.

Avant-Garde-Arama! marks the first presentation of the 2009-2010 season at PS 122. Running Sept. 18 and 19, each night will culminate in a dance party with music by DJ's Scott Ewalt (Friday) and Joro-Boro (Saturday). Sally May curates the festival.

Both evenings, hosted by Gina Vetro and David Ilku, will feature performances of Hawaii by Karen Therese and Lizzie Thomson, which is described as "a tongue-in-cheek homage to that time in love otherwise known as 'the honeymoon period'"; as well as Andrew Schneider's re:placement, a memory installation inspired by the devastating loss of his home when his apartment building collapsed earlier this year.

Performers set to appear on Sept. 18 include Joey Arias (Arias with a Twist), M. Lamar, Maria Hassabi, Carmelita Tropicana, Maureen Angelos, Carol Lipnik and Spookarama.

Sept. 19 will feature Jackie Hoffmann (Xanadu, Addams Family), Beadz on Nude Illusion, enemyResearch, Adrienne Truscott and Reggie Watts; in addition to a special sneak peek video "Obscenities" from L. Gabrielle Penabaz with Nicole Blackman.
