This decision comes weeks after the 28-year-old company received four Jeff Awards, including Best Production of a Play, for When the Rain Stops Falling.

Company member John Landvick replaced Kevin Bellie, who had served as artistic director of the Circle for nine years, in November 2012. Following Landvick assuming the role of artistic director, the Circle moved from its location in the western suburbs to Chicago.

"Basically, we never really transitioned this new set-up from Oak Park to Chicago," Landvick told Time Out Chicago. "So we are taking the time to focus on solidifying our processes and refocusing our company."

The Circle's first two productions in the city were When the Rain Stops Falling and Death Takes a Holiday.

"We decided that some bigger changes had to accrue for now," Landvick also told Time Out Chicago. "This past eight months, since I took over, has been a huge learning experience...We just need to really take the time to figure out our processes, our direction and how to succeed in Chicago." Landvick said the Circle will be producing a cabaret series featuring company members and plans to to return to full productions in early 2014 with the Chicago premiere of Lungs.

Circle Theatre's youth program, Emerging Young Artists, is continuing in Oak Park, with a production of Legally Blonde opening in August.
