Federal Capital, a revival of the musical with book by Arthur Azevedo, one of Brazil's greatest playwrights, opened April 11 in Rio de Janiero.

Azevedo wrote more than 70 plays. He lived most of his life in Rio, where he became known for his comic tales and for his brilliant career as a journalist.

Directed by Andre Paes Leme, this musical is a cavalcade of life in the Rio de Janeiro of 100 years ago, when the city was the Brazilian Federal Capital.

Federal Capital is directed by Andre Paes Leme with music by Assis Pacheco, Nicolino Milano and Luis Moreira. Antonio Pedro and Louise Cardoso topline the cast, with a guest appearance by pianist Maria Teresa Madeira.

The production opens April 11 at the Bank of Brazil Cultural Center Theatre I, in Rio de Janeiro - RJ. Tickets cost R$10,00. Peformance schedule: Thu and Sun - 7 PM; Fri - 7 and 9 PM; Sat - 9 PM
