The musical will be directed and restaged by Baayork Lee, who starred in the original Broadway cast as Connie and went on to direct productions of A Chorus Line throughout the United States. Peter Casey will be musical supervisor.

A Chorus Line, originally conceived, choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, features a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, with music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban.

The musical, according to press notes, "tells the tale of 17 dancers desperately auditioning for eight stage roles in a musical. Its origin stems from when Bennett started taping interviews with New York dancers sharing their feelings and frustrations."

The original production of A Chorus Line opened at the Public Theater's Newman Theatre in 1975 and transferred to Broadway's Shubert Theatre later that year. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Score and Book, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award. It ran for nearly 15 years, closing in 1990 after 6,137 performances.
