Directed by Gia Solari, the limited engagement will continue through March 3 at Walnut Creek's Hofmann Theatre.
Legally Blonde, according to Diablo Theatre Company, is the "feel good musical comedy about a girl who does not take 'no' for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone 'serious,' Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style."
The musical, based on the 2001 movie of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, opened on Broadway in April 2007. The production earned seven Tony Award nominations and ten Drama Desk Award nominations.
Hanks, who was also seen in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Disney's High School Musical, won the MTV reality show competition "The Search for Elle Woods." The performer succeeded Tony Award nominee Laura Bell Bundy in Broadway's Legally Blonde and closed the production in October 2008.
Other members of the creative team include choreographers Gia Solari and Renee DeWeese and musical director Sean Kana. The Hofmann Theatre is located in the Lesher Center for the Arts at 1601 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek, CA. For more information and tickets, visit diablotheatre.org.
