News Baker, Ivey, Martin and Pinchot Open Gelbart's Floodgate in NYC Reading Dylan Baker, Guy Boyd, Bob Dishy, Judith Ivey, Jesse L. Martin and Bronson Pinchot are among the cast for the April 17 reading of Larry Gelbart's Floodgate.

Moisés Kaufman (The Laramie Project) directs the invitation-only reading to take place New York Theatre Workshop at 7:30 PM.

Floodgate, according to a previous description, "features highlights of a faux congressional committee's investigation to determine responsibility for the equally faux, farcically disastrous events that recently swamped and overwhelmed the nation’s capitol. The chief casualty of the hearings: the destruction of what little is left of the English language."

The New York cast of Floodgate will feature Dylan Baker, Guy Boyd, Bob Dishy, Buck Henry, Judith Ivey, Diane Landers, Pia Lindstrom, Stuart Margolin, Jesse L. Martin, Bronson Pinchot, Remak Ramsay, David Rasche, Robert Vaughn and Harris Yulin.

The event will be preceded by a reception for the playwright at 6:30 PM. Seating is limited and only open to members of The Society of Repeat Defenders. For more information about joining the NYTW donor group, visit the company website or contact Cheryl at (212) 780-9037.

Phillip Baker Hall, Ed O'Neill, David Ogden Stiers, Hector Elizondo and Dakin Matthews were among the actors who read the work at a benefit at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse in Dec. 2005. Gelbart wrote the Tony Award-winning books for the musicals A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and City of Angels as well as the plays Sly Fox and Mastergate. He is perhaps better known for his screenplays to "Oh, God!" and "Tootsie" and developing the Emmy-winning television series "M*A*S*H."
